Many thanks for your interest on TimeKeeper. Please pay attention to the information on Licensing, before you download TimeKeeper.
System Requirements:
- Windows XP 32bit
- Windows Vista 32bit
- Windows 7 64bit (32bit version was not tested, please report any problems)
- Linux (testet with Open SUSE 10.2 and Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop)
- Mac OS X (testet with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard)
Other operating systems were not tested.
Hint:
With the launch of version 3.7 the default value for the working directory changed, because Windows 7 prohibits write access to the program directory.
Now the default working directory is
- for MS Windows under %HOMEDRIVE%\%HOMEPATH%\timekeeper (usually for Windows Vista and Windows 7 "C:\Users\<Username>\timekeeper" and for Windows XP "C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\timekeeper")
- for Linux under $HOME/timekeeper and
- for Mac OS X also under $HOME/timekeeper.
You can change it any time by editing the configuration file timekeeper.conf in subdirectory etc. Please don't forget afterwards to move your existing working directory.
Installation:
If you downloaded the ZIP file, unpack it to a folder of your choice and start the program timekeeper.exe (MS Windows) respectively timekeeper (Linux und Mac OS X) located in the subdirectory bin. There's no additional setup required, the database will be automatically installed during the first program run.
If you downloaded the Windows Installer, you first have to execute it. It installes TimeKeeper to a directory of your choice and creates shortcuts for you on the Desktop, the Quick Launch Bar and the Program Menu.
Manual JRE Configuration:
If for some reason you cannot install Java SE Runtime Environment 1.6 as your Standard-Java-Installation or if your start script resp. start program cannot find the correct java version, you can manually configure the java version TimeKeeper should use. Therefore you have to enter the JRE directory into file timekeeper.conf in subdirectory etc using the key jdkhome="/path/to/jre".
